Oberwesel wine market from 11-14 September 2020 and 18-19 September 2020, with Rhine in Flames on 12 September 2020

 

Friday, 11 September

6.00 p.m. Begin serving wine in the vintners’ bowers · Open-air concert

8.00 p.m. Opening of the 2020 wine market by its mayor and the Oberwesel Wine Witch, complete with a gun salute.
Live music then commences on the fairground

Saturday, 12 September – Rhine in Flames

1.00 p.m. Opening of the wine market with a gun salute
Begin serving wine in the vintners’ bowers

2.30 p.m. Open-air concert

Starting at 7.00 p.m. Live music on the fairground

4.30 - 7.30 p.m. The special ships are ready for boarding (only after prior booking)

Approx. 8.15 p.m. The ship procession at Loreley rock begins · Bengal lighting of the Loreley rock

Approx. 9.20 p.m. The illumination begins
Oberwesel radiates its historic townscape.
The Oberwesel Wine Witch welcomes the guests.

Approx. 9.30 p.m. Brilliant, musically synchronised fireworks display
Pyro-musical

Approx 10.10 p.m. The special ships return to their starting point
Enjoyable activity at the wine market
Live music on the fairground until the early morning

Sunday, 13 September

11.00 a.m. Opening of the wine market with a gun salute
Begin serving wine in the vintners’ bowers

Starting at 11.00 a.m. Midday drink concert
Wine market activity on the town square

3.00 p.m. Big procession
From the train station to the northern end of town and then back to the town square

4.30 p.m. The procession ends at the town square
The Oberwesel Wine Witch and representatives from neighbouring towns greet the guests.

5 p.m. Live music at the fairground

Monday, 14 September

1.00 p.m. Commence the traditional midday drink with light music
Wine is served in the vintners’ bowers

7.00 p.m. Live music at the fairground

Friday, 18 September

6.00 p.m. Opening of the wine market with a gun salute
Begin serving wine in the vintners’ bowers · Open-air concert

9.00 p.m. Live music at the fairground

Saturday, 19 September

4.00 p.m. Opening of the wine market with a gun salute
Begin serving wine in the vintners’ bowers

4.30 p.m. Open-air concert

8.00 p.m. Live music on the fairground until the early morning

 

Admission costs are waived on all days. Oberwesel wine glasses will be sold for € 2.50, and these proceeds will be used to finance the fireworks display.
